As a Senior Support Developer, you will join the Application Management Services team to deliver integration, Microsoft 365 and Clinical Systems support, configuration, and development. You will provide solutions for clinical staff's daily activities and support IT systems managed by the team. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members and aid in their skill development.
The Trust is about to embark on the One Devon EPR deployment programme, and the team will be integral in the interface development support for the programme, as well as BAU support for the initial Beaker module that went live in November 24.
You will be working as part of an expansive service-driven organisation, maintaining services and developing solutions to support both frontline and back office staff in delivering patient care within the NHS.
You will be collaborating as part of a diverse and multi-skilled team, working towards common goals and objectives, whilst acting as a technical support lead as a deputy for the AMS Support Manager.
Main duties of the job
* Develop bespoke software solutions across a wide array of technologies, in line with the requirements of the business and as determined by the AMS Development Manager and/or AMS Senior Management.
* Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle; analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation, and support whilst ensuring that the system is in line with all relevant policies, standards, and procedures.
* Participate in HIS projects, providing the technical deliverables to budget and timelines. Working with others within the team, overseeing collaborative delivery of developments.
* Act as a leadership figure for more junior members of the team, providing support, cross-training and skills development to expand the team's knowledge base.
* Liaise with all groups of staff affected by the solution developments that they are working on. Clinical & Non-Clinical system developments support the clinical and administrative processes associated with the delivery of patient care and will therefore have a direct impact upon the staff and patients using the system.
* Manage allocated information assets to ensure adherence to the local and national policies and procedures and the associated information risk and issues logs.
* Act as a deputy for the AMS Support Manager.
About us
The AMS team is responsible for the support and development of integrated IT solutions to support the day-to-day clinical activities of the Trust, utilising a number of key 3rd party IT systems and some bespoke development. The team will play an integral part in developing the interfaces to support the One Devon EPR programme which will deliver EPIC, an integrated EPR solution to support the patients in Devon.

Communicate with end users of systems supported by the AMS team, assessing their needs/issues and actioning accordingly to ensure resolution, allocating to colleagues, escalating to Manager or reassigning as and when required.
Support the manager to ensure team commitments can be met, providing cover for absence resulting from annual leave, sickness etc. or support where needed.
Lead team or project meetings; participate in Team, Directorate and Departmental meetings with staff from various groups/areas, and encourage others to do so.
Respond to escalations from junior team members, providing support or higher escalations as necessary.
Provide cross-training or support to junior team members to extend their skills and enable them to take on more activities. Train end users in areas of expertise, demonstrate new functionality and prototype options to programme, project and scoping meetings attended by senior end users.

Person Specification
Qualifications and training
* Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject, or equivalent work gained experience.
* Bridges accredited.
Knowledge and experience
* Computer literate e.g. proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications with the ability to master new software applications.
* Training in Computer programming, systems analysis, or system development or equivalent work gained experience.
* Record of successful involvement in design, development, implementation, and support of complex IT software solutions.
* Proven experience of programming using a modern programming language (including C# and Cache) (Specific languages may be mandatory as stated in the job advert).
* Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS and Java Script (May be mandatory as specified in the job advert).
* Knowledge of Database Structure and design.
* Experience of running SQL database queries.
* Experience of delivering change within the NHS or similar environment.
* Experience in process capture, redesign, and system development lifecycles.
* Experience of systems integration, interfacing, web services and the NHS Interoperability Toolkit, and the use of integration products such as Ensemble, Cloverleaf, See-Beyond.
* Knowledge of the Health Level 7 messaging protocol acquired through training or relevant experience.
* Experience with using Intersystems Healthshare product sets.
* Bridges accreditation and experience of building and supporting interfaces in a Bridges environment.
