Oak ward are looking for an enthusiastic Mental Health Nurse to join their team.
This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme. Please note: Newly qualified applicants or those due to qualify will be recruited via a separate process.

This role includes:
* Improving the lives of those with mental ill health by minimising the impact of their condition through delivery of excellent services to promote recovery.

* Acting as named nurse to patients.
* Facilitating the development of others within the team and supporting student nurses.
* Being responsible for the day-to-day running of the ward.
* Promoting at all times a positive image of mental health services for other people and the wider Trust.
Main duties of the job
Oak ward is an acute assessment ward for people aged 65 years and older who are experiencing functional mental illness, many of whom are supported home on their discharge from the ward.
Main duties include:
* Maintaining patients' dignity, privacy, and safety at all times. Assessing risk.
* Adhering to the Mental Capacity and Mental Health Acts.
* Recognising potential signs of harm and ensuring patients are safeguarded.
* Maintaining high professional standards.
* Delivering and planning evidence-based care in collaboration with the patient, families, and wider MDT.
* Assessing patient needs and delivering appropriate and timely interventions.
* Safe administration and storage of medicines.
The MDT team consists of medical staff, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language services, dietetics, and physical health care. Due to this, we are able to offer a comprehensive assessment of each patient and their individual needs.
Daily MDT report outs and discussions aid the holistic approach to our care on Roseberry and contribute to the effective treatment and management of each patient while considering discharge planning throughout their in-patient journey.

Qualification
Essential
* Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD.
* To be recognised as a practice assessor/mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale.
* Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period).
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Experience
