Position: Psychology Graduate – Mental Health

This role involves working with a range of children who have social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Ideal Candidate: This is an ideal LSA role for a Linguistic Graduate, Psychology or Health and Social Care Graduate before committing to an MSc/Doctorate and Research Project.
You must be sincere and understand why you want to work with Autistic students and children with potential adjacent mental health challenges. This will involve working with both verbal and nonverbal students.
This role will allow you to observe a range of therapists, SEN, ABA Tutors, and mental health specialists at work.
This is a fantastic training ground for aspirations within mainstream and SEN teaching, allowing you to watch OTs and Speech and Language Therapists at work. This role is all about giving the children a sense of purpose. Can you make the children’s lives just that little bit better?
Specialist SEMH school for secondary aged pupils
1. Intermediate learning levels, with a tailored curriculum for each student.
2. Focus on ADHD, Asperger’s, OCD, Dyslexia, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges.
3. Outstanding teaching and support teams in place, fostering a wonderfully holistic and positive atmosphere.
4. OTs, Speech and Language Therapists, and Specialist SEN Teachers, along with outside agencies, will be involved based on each child's context.
5. Focus on learning needs and Autism, delivering key and personal/functional skills.
6. 30 students, with classes of 6-15 based on ability.
Salary: £500-£550 per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
This LSA role will place you in challenging, sometimes anti-social contexts that will build your foundational experience. With this LSA role, understanding de-escalation and the language surrounding it is incredibly important!
Restorative and holistic practices are in place, and pragmatism along with positive reinforcement will be key skills in this LSA role in Watford. The role specializes in working with students who have Autism, Asperger’s, OCD, Global Development Delay, and some profound and multiple learning difficulties. The children you will support are between the ages of 11-19, all of whom have EHCPs for their Autism and SEMH, and they will need to continue their education in either supported living or college.
