Head of Business Development UK - BESS - Salary is DOE but very well remunerated - London Area
One of the world's largest international conglomerates is looking to build out their BESS presence across the UK.
You'd be coming in with full financial backing, support internationally, and ownership of a business unit which will make huge noise in the battery storage industry.
The right person for this role will hit the ground running and understand what it takes to identify the best talent across the industry. You will be forming relationships with key industry stakeholders, and they are happy to consider candidates from other energy backgrounds.
The aim with this venture will be for you to become their country manager for UK&I and take over the Irish portfolio which they've been working on for a while now. This means you will continue to be given progression and have a team built around you.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Identify and develop a robust project pipeline of renewable generation and utility-scale energy storage projects in the UK. Develop assigned projects from early stage until start of construction.
2. Analyze new opportunities and identify the best locations in collaboration with technical teams.
3. Lead cross-functional project teams, including external consultants and internal experts. Interface with and coordinate inputs from subject matter experts, including interconnection, commercial, engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, legal, tax, and operations.
4. Carry out development tasks: perform site due diligence, negotiate land control agreements, secure environmental and planning consents, obtain project easements, facilitate engineering studies, assist with project commercialization, solicit, and review consultants' deliverables.
5. Perform due diligence on project acquisition opportunities with contracted third-party consultants.
6. Manage project budgets, objectives, and schedules for assigned development projects.
7. Ensure that the financial model assumptions of assigned projects are complete and sound.
8. Prepare management presentations and facilitate internal approval processes, continuously driving the completion of strategic milestones that will materially advance a project through the various stages of project development.
9. Develop a thorough understanding of the various incentives and market drivers for each state and system operator; communicate this information to appropriate managers.
10. As part of the Project Development team, prepare and coordinate proposals, proposal materials, and other marketing efforts in support of the market segment. This may include gathering, verifying, and formatting proposal information.
11. Conduct risk management planning, including incident management plans.
12. Report monthly on grid operational matters.
A key attribute for this role will be someone who has a desire to grow within a company and reach heights most would not be given the opportunity to do. If you have ideas, they will always be valued and listened to. You will be working alongside some of the most senior people within the business.
You won't be walking into something which is structured like some of the larger players in the industry. If you have been craving more autonomy and a board with whom you can work alongside to set up a working environment that breaks the usual boundaries, this could be something worth chatting about.
