About the Role
Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.
Salary: £40,600-£61,000 + Performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

As Capital Projects Accountant, you'll be responsible for supporting the financial aspects of the Transmission Capital Investment programme at an exciting time of growth within the industry. We are currently in the fourth year of this 5 year price control for Electricity Transmission (RIIO-T2) and we have a long term plan to take the business forward as we look towards RIIO-T3 and deliver our RIIO-T2 commitments to support the overall Group. We are on course to invest over £7bn in our RIIO-T2 period and have committed to delivering a significant spend beyond, to meet our net zero 2030 goal.
You'll support the Transmission Capital Investment programme working closely with the project teams and the wider Transmission Investment team. You'll focus on supporting large infrastructure projects at a range of maturity levels within the Transmission business. This role requires significant and robust financial control to underpin decision making, ensure financial compliance with policies and be proactive responding and leading on business process improvement as the Transmission business enters in a period of significant and rapid growth. You'll need to understand the nature of our regulatory obligations under our RIIO price controls to succeed in this role.
You'll work on your own initiative, understand complex issues, problem solve and convey this succinctly and clearly to inform decisions and strategy. This is a varied and challenging role and the main responsibilities include:
* Providing robust financial control for the Capital Project portfolio.
* Providing insight and understanding the risks and opportunities in capital projects while ensuring compliance with our obligations and corporate governance.
* Coordinating, collating, reviewing project forecasts and delivering reports identifying the key financial drivers behind projects.
* Representing finance during project review boards, working closely with project teams, and being a key member in the delivery of projects within budget and on time.
* Providing support to the project teams to operate under, and deliver reporting and insights on performance the financial regulatory funding mechanisms.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
* An appropriate accounting qualification (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA).
* Ideally experience and knowledge of working with capital project investments as you will, along with the capital project team, be responsible for the planning and coordination of robust monthly reporting, annual budgeting and long term forecasting of the Capital project portfolio.
* Proactive and inquisitive in your approach with a strong drive for change, be able to build relationships and integrate into a variety of teams, driving robust financial control.
* Confident and articulate with the willingness to challenge and support colleagues and the business in a constructive and supportive manner.
* Ability to work to tight timescales, under pressure and deliver to a high standard.
