Full-time Description Position: Psychiatrist Location: Cornwall, NY Responsibilities: Diagnose and treat children's behavioral and psychological problems. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, including but not limited to making DSM V diagnosis, assessing medical, social, and environmental factors that support the diagnosis and treatment, and provide clear justification for prescribing medications. Also make patients' referrals and recommendations to an in-patient, partial program or other relevant services when needed. Provide therapy in an individual or group setting, liaising with parents, schools, and guardians to keep them informed of all procedures and progress. Contact any care companies, support services, schools, and other involved agencies as needed regarding patients’ care. Participate in weekly team meetings to determine a child's or adolescent's psychiatric and comprehensive treatment plan. Maintain updates and signs medication/ progress notes, consent to medication documents, ensure to provide psychopharmacological education to all patients and families/parents. Involvement in quality improvement initiatives, risk management and service utilization management. Maintain NY state physician license, participate in continued medical education activities to maintain board certification in both adult and child psychiatry. Performs other duties as assigned. Position also requires periodic, intermittent travel to various worksites within the same Metropolitan Statistical Area, to provide on-site patient treatment services. Educ./experience: Requires Doctor of Medical Degree (M.D.) degree, or foreign equivalent, current medical license to practice Psychiatry in the State of New York, and completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry. Also requires completion of a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.
