Civil Engineer
Would you like to work for a company that cares and invests in their staff's development with a real focus on training and career progression? My client, who is based close to the stunning Peak District, is currently searching for an experienced Civil Engineer and a Principal Engineer to join their expanding practice in Derby.
My client is a busy Civil, Structural, Highway, and Transportation Engineering Consultancy with offices across the Midlands. The opportunity is for an ambitious and diligent individual to be based in Derby to assist with a wide variety of projects from domestic, industrial, commercial, and conservation sectors.
The successful candidate(s) should ideally be working towards their CEng and be familiar with Micro drainage, AutoCAD including Civils' 3D, and a good knowledge of Site 3D and PDS would be useful. Although the company is happy to accept applications from candidates with little to no experience in these software programs too and will offer full training.
Essential skills include detailed analysis and modelling of drainage, 3D highway design and alignment, including horizontal and vertical alignment detail. Knowledge of various Council design standards would be advantageous.
Desirable skills include concept design, including a working knowledge of drainage design standards and good practices including SuDS. A sound commercial awareness and comfort in a client-facing role are important. The ability to mentor junior staff would be advantageous.
Personal attributes should include a diligent approach to project management, the ability to prioritize, and excellent time management skills. Meticulous attention to detail and effective communication, both written and oral, are essential. You will also demonstrate confident team/networking skills.
Core design areas include expertise in detailed drainage design, including drainage networking, highway design, FRA's, transport assessments, and detailed knowledge of Section 38, 278, 184, 185, 104, 106, cut and fill design, and analysis.
Key benefits of the role include an experienced and supportive team (and across the wider business). GCA's experienced and committed staff offer collaborative support in a wide range of skills and experience, which facilitates a "one-stop-shop" solution to client projects. The office is based in Derby with free on-site parking, inside safe bike locks, and accessible staff showers.
Key personal benefits are flexible working, team/collaborative working, company profit-share bonus, and a cohesive atmosphere. Ambitions to enhance individual career progress are strongly encouraged with professional support and mentoring.
