We are seeking a lead counsel to work on Meta’s EMEA Security Legal Team to support data disclosure, security, safety, and integrity matters in the region. This is a great opportunity to join a team that works on novel issues in an exciting environment.
Responsibilities
1. Provide advice and support the processing of legal requests for user data, and manage the litigation of matters implicating user data disclosure in criminal investigations and civil matters.
2. Identify and advise business and product partners on legal obligations relating to data disclosure and platform safety and integrity, including child safety and other serious crimes.
3. Develop and draft policies and accountability documentation concerning the protection and disclosure of user data.
4. Work closely and creatively with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Policy, Communications, Engineering, and Business Operations in reviewing and addressing governmental regulations, guidelines, policies, including government requests for user data.
5. Manage effective relationships with key government agencies, regulators, and law enforcement agencies, in close collaboration with internal cross-functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Qualified to practice law in the UK or Ireland.
2. 3+ years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) legal experience, including government, in-house and/or law firm experience.
3. Experience working with regulators or law enforcement authorities.
4. Experience with EU laws impacting data disclosures, including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
5. Experience prioritizing workloads effectively and managing projects to tight timeframes in evolving environments.
6. Experience providing clear and concise legal advice.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience providing guidance related to law enforcement, civil, or third-party user data requests.
2. Experience managing and leading cross-functional efforts, and prioritizing competing project timelines.
3. Experience analyzing and reviewing emerging regulations relating to technology companies.
4. Experience drafting legal policies for large or complex organizations.
5. Experience working effectively with large multi-stakeholder cross-functional teams.
6. Experience in legal judgment and executing quickly and under tight time constraints.
