This presents an exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to join our adult medicine teams, where the main focus will be on providing acute assessment, care, and treatment to older adults. As a substantive Matron, you will play a crucial role in supporting our existing adult and general workforce and senior nursing team. Our collective aim is to enhance both the patient experience and patient outcomes at PRUH.

Main duties of the job
As a Matron, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Heads of Nursing and the Care Group to achieve their objectives, particularly their aspiration to excel in adult and general nursing care. Your primary responsibilities will include providing professional leadership to a designated team and setting an example of exceptional nursing practice. You will serve as a clinical expert and promote a culture of professional growth and continuous quality improvement.
Your main focus will be delivering high-quality, effective patient care with a specific emphasis on enhancing outcomes and the overall experience for older individuals, their families, and caregivers. Additionally, you will actively contribute to the professional development of your nursing teams, ensuring their competence in practice. You will also take responsibility for maintaining a safe patient environment, addressing infection control concerns, and collaborating closely with colleagues both within our facility and in primary care settings.

* Assuming professional leadership for a specific team and setting an exemplary standard of nursing practice.
* Acting as a clinical expert within your area of expertise and promoting a culture of continuous professional development and quality enhancement.
* Leading the provision of high-quality, safe, and effective care with a focus on improving outcomes through PSIRF framework and ensuring positive experiences for patients, families, and caregivers.
* Taking charge of the professional growth of your team, ensuring a high level of expertise, technical proficiency, and competence in general and acute medicine.
* Collaborating actively as a member of the multi-professional leadership team in general medicine.
* Ensuring the quality of the patient environment to enhance the patient's overall experience.
* Maintaining a cohesive approach to collaboration across all sites of KCH, acting as a role model and representative for KCH (as delegated), including the broader King's Health Partners (KHP) network.
Person specification
Essential/Desirable
* Evidence of CPD
* Current significant experience as a band 7 managing and leading a team or department
* Mentorship, SSSA and experience of developing nursing teams
* Experienced in budgetary management and control
* MSc or working towards
* Continuous quality improvement knowledge and experience and PSIRF framework.
