About the Role
Working in a team on a rota basis (06:30-15:00 and 14:30-22:30 rotating weekly), our Facilities Officers open and close the college buildings, assist with managing student behaviour, supervise and delegate cleaning duties to a team of cleaning staff, assist with any caretaker/porter services and any minor maintenance related issues, and ensure the college is a safe and secure environment for learners, staff, and other users.
Facilities Officers are trained to become part of the College’s First Aid rota when on duty, for which there is an additional payment of £500 per annum (paid monthly) once training is completed.
Facilities Officers are also required to be on the On-Call escalation rota for the buildings on a rotational basis (currently 1 week in 6) and work a Saturday shift with paid breaks (currently 1 week in 6).
About the Person
We require a flexible person who can work independently, and as part of a team, to provide and maintain the security, cleanliness, and efficient running of the college buildings. Previous experience in a similar role is not required; however, the successful candidate will need to be hardworking and dedicated to learning from on-the-job training. Full training will be supplied, where required/needed.

We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more than one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us.
Our wide range of education options span entry-level programmes through to degrees, higher technical qualifications, and accredited professional courses to courses for professional development. Our apprenticeships can be studied from level 2 to level 5 across a range of different career pathways. We are the largest provider of A-Level and vocational programmes for school leavers in the region; we offer nearly 35 A-Level subjects and over 80 vocational courses, including a wide range of T-Level pathways.
