To manage and develop high quality, innovative clinical and patient support services within the Hospice at Home South team, and occasionally supporting the North team when necessary. Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership to others. Manage the Hospice at Home South team resources efficiently and effectively, preparing regular performance management reports for the Matron. Work closely with HR on employment processes and employment relations issues To be responsible for establishing and reviewing effective policies, systems, processes, procedures and the quality assurance thereof to support effective delivery of patients and family services in accordance with Hospice ethos and strategy. Meet the requirements of the Care Quality Commission and professional, key performance indicators and statutory authorities. To ensure that the needs of the patient and those close to them remain at the heart of the services work and promote the philosophy of patient centred care. Provide and delegate appropriate line management responsibility for those staff in the South team. Undertake responsibility for the recruitment and induction of new staff, ensuring delegated tasks are completed by the Band 5/6 nurses. Ensure the personal development and education needs for the hospice at home team is achieved through effective performance review and regular 1:1s. To develop and sustain strong links with local care providers, so that the hospice at home team is regarded as an integral part of the local health and social care economy. To use a supportive and devolved management approach, ensuring that staff within the hospice at home South team are supported to an appropriate level in their roles. To liaise with the Matron and Clinical Services Director and other managers to ensure sound management systems are in place which promote effective, economic and efficient management of all resources, which demonstrate achievement of Care Quality Commission standards. To be visible and credible as a clinical lead with the ability to listen and respond to staff and patients and family issues and insights. To maintain a level of clinical competence which enables the post holder to actively participate in discussions relating to care of patients and families, and support the development of the team. Undertake and receive clinical supervision and ensure staff in the hospice at home team are receiving regular clinical supervision. Undertake responsibility for the coordination or delegation of support and mentorship for students on placement to the Hospice at Home team. To undertake practice supervision/practice assessment of learners or work towards obtaining competence in the role of practice assessor, in line with NMC standards. To deputise for the Matron when required and support the North team when required.
