A lady with Multiple Sclerosis is in need of a Female Personal Assistant for 8 hours per week split between 2 days Tuesday & Thursday mornings (4 hours per day) to provide support with daily living tasks. Must be flexible because days may change depending on appointments. This post is funded through the Direct Payment scheme and is intended for this lady to maintain her independence.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
Assist with daily living tasks.
Light domestic duties such as ironing and hoovering.
Support with meal preparation.
Support with shopping.
Support with accessing community activities, and appointments.
Other Duties
To carry out any other reasonable requests that I or my family may ask from time to time.
Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
Reliable and good time-keeping.
Sociable and good sense of humour.
Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with them and providing them with social interaction.
Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.

Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

3. Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Job Working Environment:
Working in employer’s home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
1. Must be a non-smoker.
2. Must like animals as Employer owns a dog
3. Caring, patient and friendly.
4. Responsible, reliable, honest and trustworthy.
5. Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
6. Has good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives. Employer often has appointments in various hospitals from Haverfordwest, Carmarthen, Llanelli and Morriston; or must be able to confidently use Satnav/Google Maps to get to locations.
7. Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
8. Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
9. Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
10. Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
11. Must be 25 years or older, holds a full clean driving licence and must have at least 5 years driving experience as will need to drive employers Motability car which is a large SUV
12. Will need to be able to lift Employers wheelchair which is quite heavy (approximately 16kg) and awkward to lift.
13. Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
