Freelance Textile / Garment Product Engineering Manager - West London
Day Rate: £350 per day UMB
Timeframe: 25/11/2024 to 28/03/2025
Location: West London offices based
The Product Engineering Manager will manage and guide the garment technical team through the garment technical and industrialisation process, to ensure all styles are developed well in line with Design, Product Development & Production requirements. Maintain focus on method, construction, cost, machinery, and quality, achieving 100% on-time delivery at each stage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead and manage the garment technical team to deliver all new seasonal developments in line with business requirements.
2. Partner with London technical design on new product development strategies and projects, establishing new seasonal construction / quality detail and requirements.
3. Evaluate initial design sketches with the team through the design risk assessment process. Highlight potential risks and suggested solutions with the appropriate cross-functional team.
4. Guide the team throughout the Proto, SRS, & PP processes, attending fit meetings in London as and when required.
5. Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of the Technical Specification Packs and detailed SOP guidelines for the factory.
6. Review and sign off the production Kit Samples with the Pattern Technical Manager, giving authorisation to commence bulk production.
PERSONAL PROFILE
1. 3+ years' working experience in a similar role.
2. University Degree in Textiles/Fashion with garment industry experience.
3. Strong knowledge of garment construction and fit.
4. Rainwear and outerwear experience is advantageous.
5. Solid hands-on manufacturing experience & understanding – able to train & demonstrate sewing methods with machinists.
6. Ability to lead a team, with management experience required.
