Background to the Role
Due to the continued success of the business both in established and new market places, HCI Systems are looking to recruit a Business Development Representative to join the management team and further assist the company in its growth plans.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for supporting the broader business BD and marketing function, interfacing with all the relevant departments and collaborating with current and potential customers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Market Research and Analysis:
2. Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential new market segments within the motorsport and high-performance vehicle industry.
3. Analyse competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market positioning to inform strategic decision-making.
4. Leverage current HCI opportunities and memberships, such as MAKE UK Defence, MIA or Shropshire chambre business development events.
5. Lead Generation and Customer Engagement:
6. Proactively reach out to identified prospects through various channels, introducing HCI to new customers and projects, as required prepare and deliver engaging presentations introducing HCI, our highly technical skill sets and value proposition, tailored to address the specific needs and challenges of each prospect.
7. Accurately forecast potential sales opportunities and present this on the combined sales pipeline, working closely with customer project owners and internal stakeholders at HCI to track and implement effective strategies for converting leads into sales.
8. Customer Relationship Management:
9. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to maximize sales opportunities.
10. Working with the projects team at HCI as the point of contact for key accounts, addressing inquiries, providing technical expertise, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
11. Sales Process Management:
12. Collaborate closely with internal teams (Projects, engineering, manufacturing and quality) to develop tailored solutions and accurate quotations in response to customer requirements.
13. Manage the sales process from initial contact through to order placement, ensuring seamless handover to projects team and continued support throughout project duration as required.
14. Working with internal teams to review and agree HCI and customer T’s & C’s.
15. Marketing and Brand Management:
16. Identify, evaluate and progress opportunities for brand enhancement and visibility in the market.
17. Plan and manage participation in relevant industry trade shows and exhibitions to showcase our product range and strengthen brand presence.
18. Product Development and Promotion:
19. Explore opportunities to expand sales of our high-specification electrical products, such as the McL Applied product range, by understanding customer needs and promoting relevant offerings.
20. Identify opportunities for HCI Systems products within the current customer base and market place.
21. Reporting and business planning
22. Ensure that the future opportunities and pipeline aligns with the overall business plans and goals.
23. Weekly / monthly data analysis and reporting to key stakeholders in the business to demonstrate progress against KPIs and other relevant metrics.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Experience in business development within the automotive, motorsport, or related high-performance vehicle industries preferred.
2. Strong technical understanding of electrical systems and wiring harnesses preferred.
3. Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales processes and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with customers at all levels.
5. Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
Education and Experience:
1. Degree qualified in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field; technical degree preferred.
2. Experience in business development, sales, or marketing roles within relevant industries.
