We have an exciting opportunity for two intermediate Database Administrators to join our Data & Analytics Platforms domain. You will be responsible for managing our databases by providing database services incorporating best practice design, development, delivery, and maintenance of database solutions to meet business needs. One role will be working on SQL databases and the other will be working on Oracle Databases.
This position can be based in either Auckland or Wellington and is a hybrid role with two days where you can work flexibly.

What are some day-to-day tasks the successful candidate in this role will complete?
* Manage and maintain the Bank's databases through BAU work, monitoring, backups and recovery, continuous improvement and provide day-to-day technical support of BNZ Databases.
* Follow and use best practice methodologies, processes, procedures, standards, and guidelines, including but not limited to change control, incident management, SDLC and Agile Methodologies.
* Provide quality support by providing technical assurance for basic system components for BAU work, mentoring, projects, consultation, and continuous improvement providing a high level of customer service that meets all SLA requirements.

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
The focus for this team will be Database upgrades, migrations, new database solutions, and integrations.
What skills are required for this role?
* 5+ years’ experience as DBA designing, developing and managing production databases.
* In-depth working knowledge and experience with either ORACLE or MS SQL. Query optimization and performance tuning.
* Database Upgrade Knowledge and Cloud Migration strategies.
* Scripting and Pipelines.
* Infrastructure knowledge in Windows.
* A working knowledge of Agile development practices (Scrum or Kanban).
