This role will promote and protect Tesco's local reputation and develop proactive communications plans to engage media and stakeholders across the Central region and Wales. It will drive the community narrative externally, creating opportunities to tell a positive story and demonstrate the impact of the work we do within our local communities. The role will help us build networks that will facilitate positive conversations with key stakeholders including representatives of the retail, property and charity sectors. You will maintain relationships with stores, colleagues and senior management across your coverage areas and work in the field in your area to represent the community team and provide guidance, support, liaise with local groups, projects and charities and seek out opportunities for positive engagement. You will help manage a PR agency team to assist in developing a pipeline of proactive stories, and with our key major charity partners working alongside them to develop campaigns which support the community plan. The role will also ensure our property development programmes are being communicated to the right stakeholders, supporting legal, planning and consultation requirements and communication to trade and property press. You will be responsible for Acting as a spokesperson and representative for Tesco and helping to deliver the Community element of the Purpose across the Central region and Wales. Promoting, defending and advising the business on reputational issues. Owning and resolving escalations/correspondence from MPs and senior stakeholders regarding constituency/local matters. Close relationship with the Government Relations team to support. Promoting the work of Tesco across the region and bringing our national community/charity initiatives to life for our colleagues and customers. Creating targeted and relevant local campaigns and developing greater alignment and management of our core charity partners. Delivering a structured plan with clear deliverables to support, communicate these campaigns and advance each of our core community programmes/initiatives. Identifying a pipeline of relevant proactive opportunities in media or other channels to widen audience awareness of our community reach, partnerships, investments and role our stores play. Developing and managing a communications plan that supports our proposed store growth across the UK and our readiness to acquire new sites. Showing and demonstrating where and how your work, communications and story telling has had impact and results and where we could do more through our networks, in key cities, in communities that need more support. You will need Media handling and communication and influencing skills Strong project management skills Knowledge of operational processes Excellent time management skills Excellent verbal and written communications Attention to detail Proficient in Excel, Word and Powerpoint Crisis management experience Media background either in journalism or PR and experience of media handling. Public affairs and/or solid political understanding with experience of local planning. Excellent writing and communication skills with a blend of proactive, corporate and property, retail and or third sector experience.
