The Access, Equality & Inclusion Service are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed part-time Research Assistant to support an exciting research project: ‘Exploring and mitigating barriers for trans and non-binary researchers to engage in research collaborations and networks’.
This project will explore how to support trans and non-binary researchers, nurture collaborative activities, and develop resources to improve trans and non-binary inclusion and literacy within the research process.
As a Research Assistant, you will assist in the delivery of the project activities, working under the general supervision of senior colleagues within the Student Experience Directorate. You will conduct literature reviews, develop questionnaires, conduct surveys, collect and collate data, analyse qualitative and quantitative research data, draft reports and other written outputs for dissemination and publication, liaising with stakeholders, and other related tasks associated with the day-to-day running of a successful project. You will manage and prioritise your own workload and ensure that all activities are completed to deadlines and you will write up the results of your own research and contribute to the production of research reports and publications. You will input as a team member to administrative activities and assist, where required, with relevant knowledge exchange activities.
You will be educated to a minimum of Degree level in a relevant subject area such as law, social sciences or education and you will have sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge in educational and social inequalities, LGBTQI+ inclusion, higher education or research careers. You will have knowledge of appropriate research methods, have an ability to plan and prioritise your own workload, with general supervision, and you will have an ability to work within a team environment. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.
This role will be considered as a secondment for an existing member of University of Strathclyde staff or as employment for a current University of Strathclyde postgraduate student. Only current University of Strathclyde staff and postgraduate students need apply.
