Job summary A unique opportunity has arisen for a motivated physiotherapist to join the Hampshire Learning disability Service. We are looking for a dynamic physiotherapist keen to work with learning disabled adults who require specialist health support due to complex physical, sensory, communication and behavioural impairments. This position is ideal for a band 5 physiotherapists looking to develop their skills and progress into a band 6 position. You will be supported via a bespoke developmental plan and receive input to develop your competencies and confidence to work with clients who have complex presentations. Other specific areas for development will be negotiated. The successful candidate will be based within the East Hants and Southampton area of Hampshire. The service runs Monday to Friday and the post sits alongside a full complement of other Learning disability professionals as well as band 4 Physiotherapy Technicians, band 6 and band 7 learning disability physiotherapists. The successful candidate must be a driver with access to a vehicle for community visits. Please make reference to this in your application. Main duties of the job As a Specialist Physiotherapist you will be required to; Lead on the management of the physiotherapy referrals and allocations, provide specialist health assessments, deliver person centred care plans, train multi agency carers in a range of bespoke therapeutic interventions, assess and supply moving and handling and postural equipment and complete risk assessments. Support your colleagues in induction and physical health training needs, act as a clinical educator to physiotherapy students, delegating a range of therapeutic interventions to and clinically supervise Band 4 Therapy Assistants. Work collaboratively with the teams occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, learning disability nurses and speech and language therapists to provide a holistic approach to service users care. Work closely with a variety of service providers and agencies throughout the East Hampshire and Southampton area to provide an holistic, effective, responsive, evidence based person-centred approach to the treatment of adults with a Learning disability.
