We are looking to appoint a highly capable and inspirational Head of Geography to lead a successful and supportive department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding geography teacher seeking to take the step into Middle Leadership or an experienced Head of Department looking for a new challenge.
The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire our pupils with outstanding and engaging teaching. Our students are a delight to teach, and we foster an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.
The successful applicant will be joining an already highly successful department with geography amongst our highest attaining subjects. It is an incredibly popular subject at GCSE with well over a 100 pupils opting for it each year. Over the past few years, the department has achieved an incredible set of results: in 2024, 62% of candidates achieved a Grade 5+ and 35% achieved a Grade 7+; in 2023, 55% of pupils achieved a Grade 5+ and 32% achieved a Grade 7+; in 2022, 80% of pupils achieved a Grade 5+ and 48% achieved a Grade 7+.This success was built on a department truly committed to continual improvement in all areas, especially the curriculum and teaching and learning, with the focus on all improvements impacting pupil outcomes.
What the school offers its staff
The Department currently follow the AQA exam board course at GCSE level. Teaching within the department benefits from a strong team of specialist teachers who have all contributed to the department's rich curriculum.
