Job Description: The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for the pricing and estimation of allocated enquiries under the direction of the Directors.
Responsibilities include:
1. Control and documentation relating to designated projects.
2. Close monitoring of the commercial aspects of allocated projects, ensuring compliance with all HSE legislation and company policies.
3. Liaison with Departmental Managers to ensure all documentation, services, and processes meet business needs.
4. Promoting and enforcing a safe working environment as per company standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in the M&E sector, focusing on commercial, educational, and industrial projects.
2. Proficiency in estimation software and strong analytical skills.
3. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
4. Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
6. Strong organisational and time management skills.
Meetings and Estimating:
1. Lead Tender settlement and Project Handover meetings with contracts manager for secured contracts.
2. Site survey of potential M&E Projects, including layout design, quotation, and Client Liaison.
3. Management of day-to-day estimating enquiries, preparation of detailed take-offs.
4. Follow up on submitted tenders and maintain a log of communications and revisions.
5. Project cost analysis, appraisal, and budgeting.
6. Complete value engineering if required.
7. Monitor working practices, budgets, and report lack of compliance.
8. Deliver quality service to clients, ensuring performance standards & contractual KPIs and SLAs are met.
9. Project forecasting and scenario planning.
Business Overview: We are Athertons; a 43-year-old Mechanical Electrical, Plumbing business with ambitious growth plans. Based in the Wirral, we are expanding our workforce and project/client base.
Essential Requirements:
1. A minimum of 5 years estimating electrical work in a commercial setting.
2. Comfortable handling large amounts of data and working collaboratively across departments.
3. Strong organisation skills.
4. Strong electrical knowledge base.
5. Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc).
6. Detail-oriented and analytical.
7. AutoCAD experience.
Highly Desirable Requirements:
1. Basic Electrical knowledge for compliant estimates.
2. HNC Building Services.
3. APM qualification.
4. IOSH/NEBOSH.
5. Knowledge and experience of estimating software platforms.
6. Design experience.
As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for:
1. Conducting thorough analysis of project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents.
2. Accurately estimating the cost of electrical components and labour for projects.
3. Preparing comprehensive and competitive bids.
4. Monitoring and managing project costs throughout the estimation process.
5. Collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive quotes.
6. Identifying and assessing potential risks associated with electrical projects.
7. Engaging with clients to understand their requirements.
8. Staying updated on industry trends to enhance estimation accuracy.
9. Preparing and submitting quotations for work and supporting buying activities.
10. Monitoring project status to ensure costs align with forecasts.
