Carbon 60 is looking to recruit a Senior Project Manager for its leading public sector client based in South Bristol.
This is a great opportunity to work long term on a highly prestigious project.
Pay rate is £435 per day PAYE, working a 37 hour week.
This project is due to start on 6th January 2025 and last 6 months.
Hybrid working is required with regular attendance on site likely to be needed due to the construction-focused nature of the work.
Background
Our client is working in collaboration with a charitable organisation to establish a successful youth centre model.
The project will develop a world-class facility for the children in the area. The Youth Zone is to be located where investment is required to deliver greater equality of opportunity and to reduce the impact of harm through deprivation faced by families in that area.
The Youth Zone will bring ambition and regeneration through significant internal investment to the area and stands to contribute significantly to recovery through symbolic and practical support for children and families within its catchment area.
Responsibilities
In the next phase of this project, you will be responsible for the following activities:
* Leading project teams to deliver construction projects providing timely instructions and support to all the relevant stakeholders.
* Working with built environment contractors and developers (stakeholders) adhering to development agreements.
* Ensuring the application of the necessary measures to meet CDM 2015 requirements.
* Being available to deal with onsite issues in an appropriate and timely fashion.
* Proactively managing stakeholder expectations, representing our client's interests to deliver projects on budget and in line with construction programmes.
* Managing internal budgets and applying a problem-solving approach to issues and challenges.
* Bringing together and leading the resources needed to evaluate each of the available options.
* Developing business cases for the firmer proposals that emerge from the evaluations and progressing these through the client's decision-making processes.
* Establishing and maintaining appropriate governance for the project, including progress reporting to the project board.
* Updating and maintaining key project controls (e.g. plan, RAID log, budget management) using our project management software.
* Reporting progress to the client's Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will particularly be able to demonstrate:
* Development and management of construction projects.
* Significant experience of options appraisal and business case development.
* Familiarity with public sector procurement.
* Ability to control budgets relating to allocated projects and achieve financial targets set out.
* Experience and understanding of standard forms of construction contracts.
* Experience in managing and securing relevant statutory, regulatory third-party and other approvals.
* Knowledge of health and safety law, duties, and responsibilities in a construction setting.
* Flexibility with regards to travel to and around the area as required to support successful achievement of the outcomes for this phase of the project.
* Being qualified to degree level or having developed skills and experience to this level.
