We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Lewes, a category B remand prison based in Lewes, East Sussex. The prison houses around 692 patients aged between 18-65, including an inpatient unit. As part of this role, you will complete ward rounds on the inpatient unit as well as delivering clinical sessions. This role would suit a GP who is looking for flexible work and is confident delivering end-to-end care, as a large proportion of the patients have long-term conditions.
Salary
This is a bank role offering a salary of £105.5 per hour.
Hours
Monday - Friday: 8 hours a day covering either morning (8 am-4.30 pm) or evening (2 pm until 10.30 pm). Saturday: 8 am until 2 pm.

What you'll be doing:
Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Deliver first-class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, providing opportunities to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice or A&E environment.
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
* Act as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at the site, with active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required:
* MBChB or MBBS, inclusion on the GMC Register, and GP Performers List.
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal.
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse.
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications.
