This is working 4 nights on, 4 nights off (7pm-7am).
Your role will be to create customs documentation and oversee successful and correct customs clearance status of traffic, moving via road through the Channel Straits and also by air freight and air charter.
General duties to include:
1. Preparation and processing of import/export customs declarations and clearance.
2. Customs import/export entry checking.
3. Deal with all enquiries and queries quickly and efficiently relating to customs procedures, tariff classifications, duty rates and any other documentation requirements.
4. Interact with customers, both face-to-face or by telephone/email in a professional and courteous manner.
5. Liaise with importers/exporters and others to obtain mandatory information for import and export entries.
6. Deal with any customs related complaints.
7. Maintain data integrity on all systems.
8. Liaise with key customs partners.
9. Support and advise all customers whilst ensuring the company is fully compliant with the requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies.
Key Skills and Experience:
1. Previous experience as a customs clerk is essential.
2. Experience of using customs software is essential.
3. Good understanding of the law and regulations surrounding customs clearance requirements.
4. Experience in road transport, logistics or haulage is desirable.
