Pharmacy@UHB Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary company of University Hospitals Birmingham, which was established in 2011. We provide Outpatient and Discharge services from QE and Heartlands Hospitals and are currently recruiting Dispensers for our Heartlands and Queen Elizabeth sites.
It is essential that applicants have achieved at least NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services, have relevant community or hospital pharmacy experience in a busy dispensary and will deliver unrivalled customer service. This is a unique opportunity to support the delivery of care at the hospital in our automated pharmacies.
Newly qualified pre-registration technicians are welcome to apply. We offer an excellent environment within which to develop your clinical skills for a move into a medicines optimisation role within primary or secondary care.
The advert is a Permanent 40 hours per week post
Main duties of the job
To accurately dispense clinically checked prescriptions against the relevant prescription documentation, referring any areas of doubt promptly to the Responsible Pharmacist
To contribute to responsibility for the ordering and management of all medicines within Pharmacy@QEHB Ltd, working collaboratively together with the other dispensing assistants and under the guidance of the pharmacy manager
To identify potential problems in the administration of medicines such as medicine interactions, newly prescribed drugs, physical factors that could affect patient compliance etc
To contribute to the development and maintenance of a high quality and timely outpatient service for patients.
To contribute to the safe and accurate issue of completed dispensed prescriptions to patients
To contribute to the maintenance of complete and accurate patient medication records for all supplies from the pharmacy
To work collaboratively with other dispensing assistants to get the most from pharmacy automation
