We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Environment and Sustainability Leadership role to join our dynamic Rail sector team on a hybrid/national basis.
In this role, you will lead in setting agendas and initiatives to ensure we meet the Group and/or Business Unit (BU) environment and sustainability goals. You will provide ‘value-added’ technical, specialist environment and sustainability support to operational Directors so that they can effectively discharge their responsibilities specifically relating to Environmental compliance and best environmental practice.
This role offers you the unique opportunity to be the ultimate ‘go to’ person for their sector operations for understanding, knowledge, technical compliance and competence matters, providing the environmental discipline focal point, ensuring that we meet all external commitments and obligations and being recognised as such both inside and outside of Amey.
What You’ll Do:
* Partner with Senior Leaders and Operational Teams in reducing the environmental impact of our operations, embodying a collaborative approach, working with environment, carbon and sustainability professionals across Amey and others (including Clients, our key partners and Supply Chain members).
* Stay abreast of developments in legislation, regulation and industry best practice through an ongoing process of formal continuing professional development.
* Work with Operational Leaders and their teams to maintain ISO 14001 certification of our integrated management systems.
* Support Work Winning activities by contributing to the development of E&S solutions, ensuring that BU bidding teams incorporate Amey’s strategy and approach to managing environmental compliance into bid submissions.
* Undertake technical health-checks, investigate or review environmental incidents and discipline issues, and identify trends and critical issues that require attention.
* Champion best practice and innovation, making reports or recommendations to business stream meetings as appropriate.
