Principal Avionics Engineer Landing Gear - Bristol Based in Bristol and support our clients\' supply of high calibre independent technical engineering services and control system technology, a Principle Avionics Engineer with a focus on Landing Gear is required to work on a new development project with an international customer. The ideal candidate will have proven professional experience in landing gear steering control design, detailed knowledge in applying a rigorous systems engineering process and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in teams. The Principal Avionics Engineer will report to the Capability Manager for Systems and will require a detailed understanding of avionics relating to the aircraft Landing Gear Systems, in particular the steering control system. A knowledge of the extension / retraction and braking systems would be advantageous. In addition to technical capabilities the role will include management of a team of engineers and significant customer interaction. The key accountabilities for the role of Principal Avionics Engineer are: - Providing the technical leadership to major projects and deliver to time, cost and quality - Formal requirements capture and their negotiation, verification and management - Develop systems specifications for Landing Gear Steering Controls, and other associated systems - Prepare, check and / or approval of specifications for systems equipment/components. - Develop interface definition with other aircraft electrical and hydraulic systems and sub - systems - Prepare, check and / or approval of qualification and certification test plans / procedures for systems and their component and design compliance documentation - Support the development and promotion of system engineering processes - targeted towards flight - worthy equipment integration - Support the development of new business proposals, through technical content, work breakdown and hours / cost estimates, and where necessary provide technical iteration with customers to promote a successful outcome - Providing technical direction and personal development within the skill domain to junior engineers Specific qualifications and skills include: - Familiarity with system design practice ARP4754A - Knowledge of industry RTCA, SAE, ARINC, etc. and military requirements / specifications. - Familiarity with typical electro - mechanical / hydro - mechanical components used in Landing Gear Systems - Familiarity with DO178B/DO254 - Software/Hardware design - Familiarity with aerospace environmental issues DO160 - Familiarity with reliability, reliability prediction and ARP4761 - safety analysis - Familiarity with circuit design, analysis, test techniques and manufacturing techniques - Familiarity with tools such as CATIA, ADAMS, DOORS would be advantageous but not essential
