RPS are seeking a detail-oriented Engineering Assistant to support our team in conducting flow monitor surveys. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of hydrology and experience with data collection and analysis related to flow, velocity, and depth measurements. What You’ll Be Doing Assist in the planning and execution of flow monitoring surveys in various field locations Collect and record data on water flow, velocity, and depth using specialized monitoring tools and software Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of monitoring devices to ensure optimal performance Analyse collected data to identify trends, anomalies, and compliance with regulatory standards Prepare detailed reports summarizing survey findings and data analysis for review by engineering staff Collaborate with engineers and environmental scientists in developing methodologies for flow assessments Support project management by maintaining accurate records of equipment usage, survey schedules, and data integrity Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures for data collection and analysis Who we’re looking for? Familiarity with flow monitoring equipment and methodologies Proficient in data analysis software and tools (e.g., Excel, GIS) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a field and office setting Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards related to water flow monitoring (preferred but not essential) Previous experience in field data collection or environmental assessments (preferred but not essential) What’s in it for you?
