We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Technician to join our Water Operations team based out of Little Marlow SL7 3RT.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to perform a range of assigned front line maintenance/operational activities on our sewage pumping stations in the Thames Valley North region (Reading/High Wycombe/Marlow/Oxford). This will include planned and preventative maintenance of electrical equipment to support the operation of our assets.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water by performing a range of assigned front-line activities including operation, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and problem-solving to ensure that services are delivered to time, cost, and quality standards.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
* Carrying out scheduled planned and reactive maintenance work on a variety of wastewater residential assets and industrial electrical machinery in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
* Communicating with the customer in a professional manner throughout the process, whilst meeting their expectations.
* Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
* Providing technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Working on various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Base Location: Little Marlow SL7 3RT
Working Pattern: 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30-15:36 PM. Plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000 - £10,000 per annum, upon completion of essential company training.
What you should bring to the role
* Time-served apprentice or significant experience in electrical systems working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity.
* 18th Edition electrical City and Guilds certification is crucial.
* Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing Electrical plant equipment.
* Experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces.
* A full UK driving licence is essential.
