About the Role
As a Senior Contract Manager, you will oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery while prioritizing collaboration, safety, and sustainability. You will play a key role in building strong client relationships, managing budgets, and leading a team to achieve excellence. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading with empathy, problem-solving, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
1. Lead and support a team of Contract Managers and Planning Managers, ensuring fair delegation of projects and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
2. Mentor and develop team members, helping them grow in their roles through clear objectives and tailored career development.
3. Promote a positive and supportive workplace where team members feel valued and empowered.
Client & Stakeholder Management
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, fostering long-term partnerships.
5. Ensure seamless communication between clients and contract managers, resolving any concerns with professionalism and care.
Project & Financial Management
6. Oversee multiple projects of varying scale, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, safely, and within budget.
7. Manage financial aspects, including cost planning, forecasting, and budget reporting, in collaboration with the Commercial Director.
8. Identify opportunities for innovation to enhance project outcomes and operational efficiencies.
Health, Safety & Compliance
9. Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across all sites.
10. Work closely with HSQE teams to uphold best practices, promote safety awareness, and implement proactive safety measures.
11. Lead initiatives that enhance sustainability and minimize environmental impact.
Business & Process Development
12. Collaborate with Business Development teams to support tenders and pricing strategies.
13. Continuously refine workflows and processes to drive efficiency and improve team performance.
14. Support the implementation of new technologies that enhance workplace efficiencies and data-driven decision-making.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
15. 5+ years of leadership experience in the rail, infrastructure, or a related industry.
16. Strong project management expertise, with experience handling complex contracts and budgets.
17. Knowledge of arboriculture, rail, or infrastructure projects.
18. Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
19. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
20. Full UK driving license (travel required).
21. Health & Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable Skills & Experience:
22. Experience in a hands-on role within the industry.
23. COSS and SMSTS qualifications (training provided if needed).
