HMP Ashfield is a male Category C prison situated in Pucklechurch, Bristol. We are currently looking for an Operational Support Officer within our Team. This post involves working a 40-hour week on a shift pattern that includes days and nights of different lengths, totaling 40 hours in a rotating pattern. Security clearance will be needed for this post, along with 3 years of UK residence being required for security clearance. Serco Home Affairs is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office.
Responsibilities:
* To report directly to the nominated Custodial Operations Manager and carry out the duties detailed by them.
* To work in the control room, monitoring CCTV and radio systems, alerting staff when alarms are raised and completing all necessary paperwork.
* Carrying out routine net test calls and cell call checks.
* To work in the Gatehouse area, giving access to both visitors and staff, including searching of vehicles and staff when required.
* To assist with the escorting of vehicles around the establishment.
* To allocate BWVC and be responsible for the equipment.
* To assist in the Command suite if required.
* To be involved in exercises and contingency planning.
* Any other OSO related duties.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum GCSE Maths & English grade C or above or equivalent. Good knowledge of IT skills.
Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of security procedures, IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office applications, and good communication skills with external agencies.
