Packaging Technologist
What will this role achieve?
pladis was established in June and brings together the much loved, global brands of Godiva, McVitie’s, Ulker, and DeMet’s under one pladis umbrella, to form a global giant in biscuits, chocolate, and confectionary.
This role will be based at our manufacturing site in Wigston to provide compliance data on packaging against authorised and documented methods, reporting to the Site SQSE (Safety, Quality, Security & Environment) Manager.
As a key member of the factory Quality and Compliance team, the Packaging Technologist will support the effective day-to-day management of packaging used on site; providing compliance data on packaging against authorised and documented methods and providing support for the improvement and maintenance of packaging quality standards.

What will be your key deliverables?
1. Based upon an agreed packaging surveillance sampling schedule:Carry out compliance checks on printed packaging against specification, with a focus on print Brand Master spectral targets, based upon an agreed surveillance sampling scheduleCapture and store trend data of spectral colour assessment in QA repository. Discuss and share trends with Senior Artwork Technical ManagerSample and visually assess printed packaging against target Epson proofs for visual differences and print defects. Sample and assess packaging against specified specification parameters in accordance with the sampling standards and retailer requirements.
2. Supports the site with coding /calendar maintenance and data updates. (eg MID)
3. Authority to hold and release non-compliant defective packaging material for use in production.
4. Reviews, makes recommendation and supports implementation of appropriate changes and preventative measures.
5. Supports continuous improvement through identification of areas for improvement, involvement in projects and through support in issue resolution, driving a reduction in risks and ensuring best practice.
6. Supports all KPI monitoring, by collating data, C of A’s and other information
7. Support issue investigations with escalation to SQSE Manager or where appropriate request support from the Senior Artwork Technical Manager
8. Provide data for non-conformance documentation to supplier and raise packaging material VNC’s.
9. Maintain and store master standard packaging materials for retention.
10. Act as a member of internal audit and traceability teams with initial focus on packaging quality compliance.
11. Participate in all external audits and visits providing packaging technical data.
