A Vacancy at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
The Lambeth Secondary Care Psychological Therapies Service is looking to recruit a band 6 (MBT trainee) or band 7 (MBT accredited) clinician, dependent on MBT accreditation. Please make it clear which band you would like to be considered for.
Lambeth Secondary Care Psychological Therapies Service (SCPT) is an innovative, dynamic service offering interventions at tiers 1, 2 and 3. These include a range of modalities working in the building with personality disorders, complex trauma and other difficulties. Modalities delivered include MBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, CAT, and trauma focussed therapy. The Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) programme is offered by a discrete team within SCPT operating within the wider integrated service. Support for MBT in the wider organisation is excellent with Trust wide special interest groups and strong links to the Anna Freud Centre. This would be a great opportunity for a clinician who has completed MBT training or who is due to complete in a few months.
The MBT programme is part of Lambeth’s pathway for personality disorder or complex emotional and relational needs and part of its stepped care model. A suitable candidate might be an experienced community mental health clinician wishing to move into a psychological therapy post. Equally, this post might be suitable for a psychologist or psychotherapist who wishes to enhance their psychological training / experience, specifically in the field of MBT.
Post holders will be expected to work towards gaining MBT practitioner status within a year of appointment through training funded as part of the post.
The post holder will provide individual and group MBT, conduct assessments, complete MBT formulations / relational passports, co-facilitate psychoeducational groups, will organise, and participate in regular MBT clinical reviews and offer a bank of MBT follow-up sessions. The post holder will also be expected to take an active part in the MBT team timetable of clinical and supervision meetings.
There is also an expectation to consult to and support community clinicians with patients with complex emotional and relational difficulties.
