An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior/Principal Process Engineer with water sector experience to join YTL Construction. You will be working within the Process Engineering team to predominantly help deliver multi-million-pound wastewater engineering projects.
What you'll do
You'll be working within the Process Engineering team, which forms an integral part of the larger design team, predominantly working within the field of wastewater and sludge treatment.
You will also be working alongside other engineering teams from all disciplines, helping to deliver multi-million-pound engineering projects that will have a positive impact on society and the environment.
You will:
1. Provide expert process and technical guidance to support Process Engineers in developing appropriate and cost-effective solutions to meet specific project requirements in all aspects of wastewater and sludge treatment.
2. Provide training, mentoring, support, and guidance to process engineers and technical staff.
3. Review/approve process models, process flow diagrams, mass balances, process sample surveys, and P&IDs prepared by the Process Engineering team.
4. Support the Process Engineering Manager to manage the workload and output of the Process Engineering team.
5. Review, audit, and approve technical reports, appraisals, designs, and drawings (both internal and external) to ensure that all comply with our health and safety, technical, legal, and environmental standards.
6. Ensure that the delivery of requested investigations and appraisals provide the best value engineering solutions whilst considering risk and value, whole-life costs, and carbon emissions.
7. When required, attend design review meetings to confidently explain design solutions and respond appropriately to any challenges or risk concerns that might arise.
8. Provide process guidance and support, where required, to ensure our design standards, specifications, and standard drawings are fit for purpose.
9. Challenge and update design standards and conduct programme-level reviews.
10. Support commercial aspects of process design, such as tender submissions and review.
What you'll need
You'll ideally have experience working in a process engineering role where you have a track record of providing quality process outputs and supporting more junior team members.
It is expected that you can confidently demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills, along with good verbal and written communication.
You'll also have:
1. A degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
2. Ideally a master's degree (or higher) in a process-related area.
3. Chartered professional status of an appropriate institution.
4. Extensive process design experience.
This role is based at our head office in Bath and due to the nature of the work undertaken, will require a minimum of three days per week attendance on site.
