Variety and Challenge. Growth and Opportunity.
In the retail business, we move fast. We’re always adapting, evolving and innovating. And the fast pace brings variety and challenge, along with continued growth and opportunity.
Welcome to TJX, a Fortune 100 company and the world’s leading off-price retailer of clothing and homeware worldwide. Our retail chains include TK Maxx in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria and the Netherlands, as well as HomeSense and tkmaxx.com in the United Kingdom; TK Maxx in Australia; TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra Trading Post and Homesense, as well as tjmaxx.com and sierratradingpost.com in the United States; and Winners, HomeSense and Marshalls in Canada. In 2018, TJX had over $35 billion in sales, more than 4000 shops and 249,000 Associates. As a retailer committed to growth, success is always in style at TJX!
When you think of a retailer’s website you probably think of various convenience factors such as guaranteed sizing, colours and delivery options. The challenge TK Maxx faces is that our website is different from every other retailer out there. Our site is just like one of our amazing stores – full of treasures and finds unique to the store – whether that’s on your local high street or accessed at the tap of a button. So whilst we may not hold every product, in every colour, at every size – the product we do have is exciting, fresh and changes every single day. Which we think is far better way to shop!
The eCommerce team at TK Maxx works hard to land that experience with our customers every day, exciting them about the product that has just arrived, encouraging them to buy it before it sells out and delivering an experience on site that is comparable to the joy of shopping with us in store. We do that across 3 transactional sites in the UK, Germany and Austria balancing a European outlook with the need to engage a local audience with relevant product and content.
As part of the department, you’ll be collaborating with partners in the broader eCommerce team as well as other functions within the business, on a daily basis. You’ll contribute to developing strategy and delivering our tactics. You’ll need to balance creative thinking with a sharp commercial focus; and grasp what eCommerce means in an off-price organisation as you hone your all-round skills. Our off-price business moves faster than many other retailers, so you need to be agile and ready for every challenge that comes your way.
During the 12-month programme, you’ll work across key teams within the eCommerce department. Those teams include:
The Online Trading team who work in close partnership with the Buying and Merchandising community to define our European eComm product strategies and maximise our sales online. The team is responsible for online merchandising, nimbly trading the site to improve sell-through and drive profitable sales.
The Online Content team who are responsible for delivering the online trading and brand plans through the development, build and execution of all web content across our European sites. Working alongside our partners in Brand and Marketing, the team ensures all content aligns with omnichannel and brand priorities, Digital Product Development and IT, to drive the CMS improvement plan and ensure the smooth delivery of all site content.
The Site Optimisation Team who are responsible for the optimisation of all onsite customer journeys including, but not limited to, the customer shopping funnel. Through site analysis, insight and A/B testing the Site Optimisation Team formulates strategies to maximise sales, service and conversion through site content, search, navigation, PLPs, PDPs and cross-GM product curation.
The UX Design team who are responsible for the overall success of the experience when customers become users of our digital products. We do this through execution and analysis of user research and data to determine close understanding of users and create solutions that fit with users understanding and needs when shopping online.
The Digital Product Development team who are responsible for defining the requirements and scope of ecommerce IT projects and enhancements. The team partners with the UX Design team to deliver a great customer experience across all devices and ensure final delivered products meet the needs of the customer and the business. Through collaboration with business and IT partners, the DPD team prioritise the TJXE Digital roadmap and requirements backlog.
The Digital Operations team who are responsible for driving efficiencies, cost savings and customer facing improvements across the end-to-end journey for ecommerce products and orders.
Outside of Ecommerce, you will also be able to get to know and spend time connecting with other areas of the business to further expand your insight and experience throughout the year.
