T2M Resourcing are currently working alongside an innovative automotive manufacturing business to help them to recruit a Senior Buyer.
As a Senior Buyer, you will oversee the strategic procurement of direct materials, negotiate with suppliers, drive cost reduction initiatives, and ensure the prompt delivery of high-quality parts to support manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities as a Senior Buyer:
* Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities and raw materials.
* Identify, assess, and qualify suppliers to ensure optimal quality, value and reliability.
* Lead the appraisal and onboarding of suitable suppliers.
* Manage RFX processes and analyse cost breakdowns to secure the best pricing.
* Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and long-term deals with domestic and global suppliers.
* Foster strong supplier relationships while driving improvements in delivery, cost and quality performance.
* Review and communicate monthly Vendor Performance Reports (Vendor Rating) – Addressing supplier performance issues and in response implement corrective action plans.
* Collaborate with program management, engineering, and production teams to support product development and cost-reduction projects.
* Work closely with logistics, planning, and production teams to ensure a seamless supply of materials.
* Monitor inventory levels to avoid excess or shortages in stock levels.
* Regular travel for supplier audits ,visits and industry events
* Mentor and develop junior team members to strengthen procurement capabilities.
Requirements to be a successful Senior Buyer:
* Prior experience working with global suppliers.
* Commodity related purchasing experience.
* Excellent negotiation skills
* Able to communicate and deal with a variety of people.
* Deadline driven.
* Highly organised.
* Strong problem-solver.
* Strong understanding of technical drawings and bills of materials (BOM's)
* CIPS certification.
Desirable but not essential:
• Hold a degree in a business or engineering-related field.
• MCIPS Qualifications.
Based at the company's headquarters in Milton Keynes, this opportunity will give the successful applicant the chance to work on several exciting projects within the automotive industry.
