Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Lead Substance Misuse Nurse at Yeovil Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical nursing advice, education, and leadership within the specialty to result in an improvement to the standard of care provided. To act as a source of expertise, advice, and knowledge for patients, carers, and health care professionals.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development and evaluation of programmes of care/protocols and the setting of standards of care aimed at providing a high-quality service.
2. To act within Trust guidelines, policies, and procedures and the NMC code, seeking advice on non-routine matters from the Chief Nurse.
3. To ensure accurate contemporaneous and timely care records both written and electronic as per NMC guidance.
4. To have relevant expertise and knowledge related to investigations and treatment options in order to provide patients with necessary information to ensure informed consent.
5. To develop, maintain and review effective nurse-led care including specialty clinics where appropriate.
6. To manage own caseload of patients developing individual agreed management regimes with the patients that acknowledge and are responsive to their psychological, physio, and educational needs.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential:
* Registered general nurse
* Completion of non-medical prescribing competency
* Demonstrate the ability to work at masters level
* Post registration qualification in substance abuse or evidence to demonstrate competence in
Experience Essential:
* Minimum of 2 years at band 6 level
