National Grid is hiring a Chapter Leader, Software Engineering for our Digital Platforms & Infrastructure Technology department in Warwick.
What you'll do
As a Chapter Director, you'll lead the development of innovative capabilities, implement processes aligning with organizational goals, and drive performance and quality. You'll create a motivating work environment, support health and wellbeing, and build effective relationships with suppliers, ensuring compliance with standards. Your leadership will empower individuals to reach their potential and impact our vision.
Responsibilities include:
* Establish standards: define practices, ensure alignment with future blueprints, review performance.
* Develop skills: map competencies, design career paths, partner for training.
* Deliver capacity: manage resources, collaborate on allocation, develop recruitment strategies.
* Manage stakeholders: demonstrate expertise, inform stakeholders of resources, collaborate on resource allocation.
* Software Engineering Focus: facilitate collaboration, establish frameworks, organize training, drive expertise.
About you
* Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or a BS/BA in a technical field.
* Experience in strategic technology leadership, IT infrastructure, analytics, outsourcing.
* Proven leadership, coaching, and development skills.
* Deep technical knowledge in a specific area.
* Strong analytical skills, decision-making based on data.
* Resource planning and allocation experience.
* Proficiency in business applications, data visualizations, ServiceNow, GitHub, Visual Studio Code, Git.
* Understanding of software engineering best practices, object-oriented programming, design patterns.
* Experience with Agile methodologies: SAFE, Scrum, Kanban.
* Knowledge of cloud computing, Azure services.
