BAM FM is recruiting a Technical Assurance Manager (Authorised Electrical Engineer) to join our Technical/Compliance team within BAM FM.
This role will be covering projects throughout the UK mainly in the south. The successful individual can be based anywhere across the South and up to the Midlands, with UK travel required across all sites.

Your mission
You will be responsible for the practical implementation and application of SSOW / Safety Rules on all sites, system and installations. As the Electrical Authorising Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be a subject matter expert for high voltage, low voltage and hazardous area electrical systems and equipment, you will be the focal point for all BAM electrical engineers.
• Support the implementation of Electrical Safety, Systems and Engineering Policy, Process and Guidance for the UK
• Audit Engineers on the work that has been carried out, look at the CAFM system to see what parts have been ordered and match them up with the engineer’s tasks.
• Audit compliance of contracts in line with statutory regulations, legislation, and best practice in the field of expertise
• To provide advice to procurement on the standards of contractors for electrical engineering
• Provide advice to contracts on maintenance Standards for Electrical Systems.
• Communicate updates to statutory regulations, legislation, and best practice with stakeholders in your field of expertise.
• Take on the role of company principal duty holder for the NIC EIC
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with great attention to detail. You will be a self-motivated Electrical Engineer with a friendly and personable approach you will communicate effectively with people at all levels including stakeholders, clients, and suppliers.
To succeed in this role:
• High level of technical knowledge in electrical systems.
• Authorised Person High Voltage / Low Voltage
• City & Guilds Inspection & testing qualifications
• City & Guilds 2400 Design & Verification of electrical systems (Desirable)
• Advanced experience of improving policies and procedures related to electrical systems.
• Ability to coach and mentor others.
• Good IT skills using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, excel and share point.
• Excellent written, verbal communication.
• Engineering competence with NVQ level 6 or equivalent qualifications.
• Qualified as Lead or Internal Auditor to ISO 45001 or equivalent, this can be gained once in post.
• Safety competence with NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• To have a knowledge and understanding of and be able to apply the following documents and core electrical safety principles to projects of all sizes and have sound understanding of electrical engineering principles i.e.:
1. Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) & Scottish Health Technical Memorandum (SHTM)
2. Joint Services Publication 375 (Desirable)
3. BS7671 - IET Wiring Regulation (Current Edition)
4. Approved Document P – Electrical Safety to the building regulations
5. The Electricity at Work Regulations
6. The Dangerous Substances & Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR),
7. Electrical Supply, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR).
