Additional programmed activities may be available, but these are subject to annual discussion and agreement and do not form part of the underlying contractual agreement. Applicants are required to be oneligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).

Consultant Anaesthetist at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
The consultant appointment is a new post within the Anaesthetic team at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will provide a general anaesthetic elective and emergency service for a busy DGH hospital.
The post is a 1 in 13 non-resident on-call and will attract a 3% on-call frequency supplement. The department works flexibility in terms of lists and working days, however, this can be negotiated. An interest in paediatric anaesthesia and regional anaesthesia would be welcomed.

Job Outline
• To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide evidence-based care for all in patients. To liaise effectively and in a timely manner with surgical, medical, and nursing colleagues and all other health care agencies when appropriate
• To assist in the provision and development of a safe and effective Service and support the Trust in its aim to provide the best possible care to patients.
• To carry out all duties to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with current quality initiatives within that area of work.
• Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences.
• Participate in the General on-call rota.
• A willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels.
• To carry out his/her duties with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities policy at all times.

Teaching
• To assist in the professional supervision and management of trainee medical staff
• To organise and participate in teaching, examination and accreditation duties for undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity.
• To participate in the education and teaching of nursing and ODP staff
Research and Audit
• To be actively involved in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and in continuing professional development
• To implement audit and research findings as appropriate
Management & Communication
• To participate in all aspects of Service Line and Hospital affairs, including attendance at Consultant Meetings and to represent the department on appropriate committees/working parties when required.
• To develop and monitor performance indicators for the anaesthetic and critical care service and implement action as necessary
• To assist in the effective handling of patients’ complaints
