Job summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced and efficient Phlebotomist who is caring, motivated and committed to patient care to compliment our dedicated nursing team.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the other practice nurses and HCA to treat our patients, maintain systems including infection control to meet CQC requirements and influence and implement policy and change in the Practice.
Main duties of the job
As part of our nursing team you will be responsible for taking blood samples and providing general patient assistance.
You will work with other members of the team to ensure clinical areas meet a satisfactory infection control level and remain adequately stocked with consumables. Other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibility, training and scale of the post blood pressure checks, health checks.
This is a part-time position, 16 hours per week (can be flexible but ideally looking for four mornings 8:30-12:30) and salary is competitive, depending on experience, with access to NHS pension scheme.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:Phlebotomist
Grade:A/B according to experience
Accountable to:Practice Nurses, Nurse Practitioner, GP Principals, reporting to
the Practice Manager
JOB PURPOSE
To work as a member of the Primary Care Team providing a phlebotomy service at the Practice.
MAIN DUTIES
To obtain specimens of blood for pathology
To ensure all specimens are collected in the appropriate container /test tube pertinent to the test required
To ensure all specimens are correctly labelled and stored ready for collection
To be aware of the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patients, carers and their families, providing support, referring to senior team members as appropriate
To ensure patient confidentiality at all times, keep accurate and up to date records
To work within the policies and guidelines set out by East Surrey PCT and the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC)
To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibility and grade of the post. This may include some clerical duties ordering, photocopying and general administration
To organise ones daily work/appointments to ensure most effective use of time
