Our client works within Defence, Government, Critical National Infrastructure and Aerospace and are looking for a Commercial Manager to provide advice on and analysis of commercial risks in the business, commercial sales and procurement guidance. The role is varied and includes managing a small team, reviewing, drafting and negotiating a range of contract paperwork and leading commercial governance process for bids. You will also need to have some experience in leading teams as this will be a proportion of your role. Key responsibilities Support the team with a wide range of commercial tasks within the Defence division. Lead and manage a small team of Commercial Officers and Managers, providing formal and informal support and development to team members. Contribute to the commercial strategy and hit the ground running influencing the success of the team. Review, negotiate and draft a range of agreements including prime and subcontracts, NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements and back-to-back subcontracts. Lead the commercial governance process for bids and tenders. Analyse and negotiate contract terms and conditions. Review and approve proposals, prime and sub-contracts. Work with internal resources to develop their understanding of commercial agreements. Provide commercial support to bid teams, including supporting the development of bids and tenders. Work with stakeholders to identify commercial risks, mitigation and management. Provide commercial support throughout contract delivery. Skills & experience A minimum of 5 years’ commercial experience supporting either consulting/service contracts within Defence, Aerospace or Government. Experience negotiating sales/bid commercial contracts. A Law Degree would be ideal, otherwise a strong legal understanding is required. Detail focused with a passion for contracts and the ability to analyse, interpret and draft contractual wording. Experience of negotiating complex contracts such as NDAs, MOUs, teaming agreements, sub and prime contracts. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and ability to prioritise deadlines efficiently.
