Project Manager – Tunnels Purpose To have overall accountability for successful delivery of elements of the mining/tunnelling works, and temporary platform/services management relating to the construction of the Intake and Outfall tunnels. This includes for the initiation, planning, design coordination, delivery and handover/close out of the Tunnelling Works. To provide management, leadership and inspires a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a common goal. To determine the most appropriate means of satisfying customer/project requirements, objectives and constraints; time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits. The Project Manager shall. • Produce Programme of works, and detailed schedules. • Assist the team to develop construction methodology, SSHEQ procedures, RAMS and ITP’s. • Obtain suitable resources (Labour, Subcontractors, Plant and Materials) to execute the work. • Assist the commercial team to develop forecast budgets and manage actual cost. • Assess programme and productivity achieved and review weekly, acting where appropriate and reporting any changes. • Ensure handover information is being produced in readiness for handover 45 hrs/week, Working 10-hour dayshift pattern Monday to Friday, at the site location. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management. Risk, Issue & Opportunity Lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes Log and escalate any issues that cannot be resolved at delegated level of authority Procurement & Supply Chain Manage subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved Ensure procurement plans are available in line with the overall project plans, such that material/resources/supply chain can be delivered to meet scheduled deadlines Quality Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification Accountable for KPI’s in line with project objectives and monitor performance Ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings Schedule Develop, implement, review and periodically update resource loaded schedules Ensure team adopt productivity and project controls techniques Monitor progress and hold weekly meetings with the team Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations Ensure records and appropriate notices in accordance with the change control process Commercial & Contract Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control Able to identify elements for cost recovery from others Incorporate and balance both operational and commercial constraints into decision making Lead effective reporting routines including escalation as required Digital Advocate consistency and reliability of digital data to support successful project delivery – data driven decisions Awareness of Digital Group Minimum Standards and operate with appropriate level of digital tools Seek coaching so that the team has the correct level of training Personal Qualities & Experience Able to demonstrate a track record of successful Project Management in large scale civil engineering projects. Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts Proficient in commercial/project management communications Experience in implementing safe systems of work Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required Commercially astute Able to undertake work in high pressure situations Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics Record of a solution-based approach to problem solving Ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team The following qualities/experience are desirable: Experience of working on Tunnelling project Member of a professional management body i.e. APM Holds a current driving licence Working within The role holder is likely to have one or more of the following: Formal qualification (BSc/MSc) in management/construction or experience equivalent APM PFQ/PMQ/PPQ · CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent · TSTS & TEEP
