The Pharmacy at St Peter's Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a friendly and well-organised individual to join our department as a Pharmacy Assistant.
We are a busy Pharmacy department and your role will involve supporting the Pharmacy team with the supply of medicines to the wards, clinics and outpatient areas as well as working on the Pharmacy hatch to be the first point of contact for staff and visitors.
You will be working in a team alongside other Pharmacy Assistants, Senior Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists. The core working hours are 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills to effectively work alongside staff of all grades throughout the Hospital. You will be hard-working, keen to learn, and have the ability to prioritise work.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in all sections of the Pharmacy on a rotational basis, which includes working in the dispensary and on wards as well as being based in distribution. You will carry out your duties supervised by qualified staff and contribute to the development of pharmacy services. You will promote the highest standards of professional practice while observing at all times the "statement on professional Conduct" issued by the GPhC.
You will be required to follow all legal and departmental practices, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), COSHH, lifting and handling regulations, and all Trust Policies and Procedures.
Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will have GCSEs in Maths and English Grade C or equivalent, and a commitment to complete a BTec Certificate in Pharmacy Services and the NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services within a year of registration with the education provider.
It is important to have the ability to communicate clearly as well as follow instructions, and there is a need to be physically fit to undertake manual handling tasks.
The Pharmacy core opening hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30. To enable the department to provide the best service to our users, the successful candidate will need to be able to work 37.5 hours a week, 09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday. There is also a requirement to participate in the department weekend and bank holiday rota.
