What does an Industrial Designer do at One Retail Group? As an Industrial Designer, you'll be an integral part of our expanding Design team, contributing to our ongoing business growth. Based in our London office and reporting into our Head of Design, you will help shape the aesthetic vision of our products, ensuring a balance of style and user experience. Your role will cover everything from designing new products from the ground up, to creating impactful visuals, both static and animated, to effectively showcase our products online. Our ideal candidate would be someone who is/has 1-3 years of experience in product design (we would also consider a graduate), with a strong portfolio of work that includes home appliances, ideally for UK, European or USA markets. Highly skilled in 3D design software and modelling tools such as SolidWorks, Keyshot etc. Experience using rendering software such as Keyshot, Blender, V-Ray etc. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator. Diverse material knowledge. Strong understanding of production processes and costing is a must. Excellent sketching, visualization, and 3D prototyping skills. Ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, and usability in design. A qualification in industrial design or a related field. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Good time management skills: ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Passion for creating products that enhance user experiences and lives. Responsibilities Shape the look and feel of our range of consumer products across different categories, with more of a focus on home appliances. Ensure each product range has a consistent and appealing design that matches our brand values and guidelines, while also being practical and functional. Own the product design process from concept to final mass production. Collaborate with factories to implement design concepts effectively, while addressing manufacturing costs, time constraints and resource requirements. Collaborate with multiple teams, including Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing, to understand our sales and pricing strategies for new product launches. Create accurate, high-quality sketches, 3D models, and prototypes to communicate proof of concept to key stakeholders and senior management, ensuring design feasibility and manufacturability. Develop 3D textures and surfaces for high quality and photorealistic render outputs. Generate high quality static renders and 3D animations for various purposes, including manufacture/production and online content creation. Act as the main point of contact for all product design between our manufacturing partners and our London and China offices. Stay up to date on industry trends, materials, and technologies to incorporate the latest advancements into product designs.
