We are looking for a Client Partner to join our Public Sector team - initial 12m FTC.
A bit about Torchbox: We build digital products for international NGOs, governments and universities; and we created Wagtail CMS, used by Google, NASA, the NHS and thousands more.
Our diverse team of over 120 people is mostly UK-based but with a significant presence in Manila as well as a network of people around the world.
We are on a mission to set a new standard for a purpose-led business. Torchbox is 100% employee-owned - everyone is a co-owner from day one and we are building an amazing, progressive ownership and learning culture. If you are excited about this mission, it’s a great time to join.
What we’re looking for
We are seeking an experienced Client Partner to join our team. You might currently be a Product or Delivery Manager, or a Client Lead / Digital Consultant in a digital agency. While account management experience is useful, our priority is public sector experience, particularly in navigating complex digital projects and helping clients implement the government Service Standard. You’ll have strong experience in helping clients develop and implement effective digital services and interventions.
We recognise that candidates may not have deep expertise in every aspect of the role, so we’re open to different backgrounds. Whether you lean more towards Delivery or Product is less important than your ability to build strong relationships, guide clients through challenges, and contribute to sales efforts.
In this role, progression will be about the complexity and scale of projects and clients rather than a traditional management track.
We’re generally a curious, creative, and caring team. If you’re passionate about helping public sector clients navigate complex challenges, improve services, and create meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you!
You will:
1. Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of public sector clients, ensuring their digital strategies align with their goals.
2. Lead combined multidisciplinary and client teams through exploration, experimentation, and implementation, drawing on relevant research, design, and technical approaches.
3. Support teams in working in agile, iterative ways to achieve the best outcomes.
4. Act as a navigator through relevant sector standards, helping clients understand the Service Standard and what it means for their work.
5. Facilitate conversations and run workshops confidently, getting hands-on with collaborative and multidisciplinary work.
6. Help teams translate policy intent into viable digital products or services that can be operated effectively.
7. Contribute to business development, supporting the growth of our public sector work by identifying opportunities, leading pitches, and shaping proposals.
Core responsibilities
1. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, working collaboratively to achieve meaningful outcomes.
2. Strategic Leadership: Guide clients in developing and implementing strategies that improve public services, exploring new and different approaches to realise positive outcomes and add value.
3. Project Oversight: Oversee planning and execution of digital projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
4. Business Development: Identify opportunities for growth within existing client accounts and play a key role in securing new projects.
5. Performance Analysis: Use quantitative and qualitative insights to measure impact and inform decision-making.
6. User-centred and agile working: create the conditions for collaborative, multidisciplinary work across research, design, innovation, and enabling technology.
Skills & Experience
1. Strong understanding of Service Standard approaches, user-centred design disciplines, and iterative working methods.
2. Experience in a Product, Delivery, or Client Lead role with a focus on agile, user-centred service and product development.
3. Ability to build trust and long-term relationships with public sector clients.
4. Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
5. Strong communication and facilitation skills, with confidence in presenting to clients and stakeholders.
6. Comfortable working in a sales-involved role, identifying opportunities and supporting business growth.
7. A results-oriented mindset, with a track record of driving impactful digital projects.
What we offer

3. Competitive salary + annual review + bonuses.
