An established and very successful commercial and refurb contractor based in Livingston are seeking a QS to join their team due to project wins. Our client is looking for someone who has had exposure to heritage / historical projects as they self deliver stone masonry and joinery.
You will be joining an team of 3 and will report into the commercial manager.
Hours are 9am - 5pm or 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday (whichever you prefer) and you will be office based.
They are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing costs, contracts, and budgets across various construction projects to ensure efficiency and profitability. This position requires strong analytical abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a thorough understanding of construction and financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Cost Management:
* Prepare, monitor, and control budgets and expenditure for construction projects.
* Conduct cost analysis for project work.
* Advise on procurement strategies and options.
* Tendering and Contracts:
* Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, and bills of quantities.
* Evaluate and negotiate tenders from subcontractors and suppliers.
* Administer and manage contractual claims and disputes.
* Valuation and Payments:
* Perform regular valuations of work in progress (WIP).
* Certify and process payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
* Risk Management:
* Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with projects.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices.
* Reporting and Documentation:
* Maintain detailed project documentation, including cost and contract records.
* Prepare regular financial and progress reports for stakeholders.
Requirements:
* Education and Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is highly desirable.
* Experience:
* Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
* Proven track record in managing budgets and costs on construction projects.
* Skills and Knowledge:
* Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost control, and procurement processes.
* Excellent knowledge of relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, CostX, MS Excel).
* Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
