The role will be part of a team of 7 Financial Accountants and Assistant Financial Accountants working within the Vets for Pets finance team.
Reporting to the Accounting Services Manager and with a team of 2 Assistant Financial Accountants reporting directly to you, you will be responsible for assisting with, amongst others, the following tasks:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ownership of the period end accruals, prepayments and bank postings for the JVCos (Joint Venture Companies)
2. Management of a team of 2 Assistant Financial Accountants including performance reviews and day-to-day management
3. Acting as the technical expertise, specifically on small company accounts, for the Business Partnering Team and other teams within the business
4. Reviewing and challenging Assistant Financial Accountants’ reconciliations and postings
5. Reconciling key balance sheet accounts across JVCos
6. Working with the Support Office finance team to develop processes and to implement ‘best practice’
7. Proactively developing and implementing internal controls and processes
8. Implementing internal audit recommendations and supporting the internal audit process
9. Managing stock count process across JVCos
10. Investigating and responding to queries from the Business Partnering team and other internal stakeholders
11. High-level reviews of general ledger balances
12. Ad hoc project work
About You
1. Qualified/Part Qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA
2. Exposure within an accounts environment dealing with application of accounting standards
3. Organised and proactive with good attention to detail
4. Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team meeting tight deadlines
5. Strong focus on completion of tasks and the ability to see a task through
6. Ability to multi-task and prioritise competing deadlines
7. Advanced Excel skills are essential, and knowledge of other MS Office applications is required
8. Ability to work at pace and have a high level of organisational skills
9. Ability to deliver a high level of customer service
10. High level of attention to detail
11. Ability to prioritise workload and manage strict deadlines
12. Line management of 2/3 individuals
13. Effective communicator at all levels, must be able to communicate complex financial issues in a simple and easy to understand manner to non-financial partners and colleagues
14. Team player, able to communicate and work effectively across disciplines
15. Strong service ethos and demonstrates vision and values of the vet group
16. Passion for accuracy and drive for improvement
