National Grid is hiring a Portfolio Analyst - This position can be based from our Warwick or London office - with Hybrid working on offer.
Job Purpose
The Portfolio Analyst will support the governance and delivery of data products within NGET and the wider digital portfolio. This role involves assisting with risk management, dependency management, stakeholder management, and creating data visualisation with PowerBI. The Portfolio Analyst will directly report to the Data Portfolio Manager and will play a crucial role in supporting key conversations and outcomes.
What you'll do
Portfolio, Programme and Project Support
* Providing support and guidance to enable and maintain the health of the Data (and wider Digital) Portfolio.
* Assists the coordination, delivery, and maintenance of the Data Portfolio Roadmap.
* Provides administrative services to Portfolio governance/SAFe forums (prepare agendas/materials, minutes, follow-up on actions, maintain SharePoint/Confluence documentation).
* Assists the identification, tracking, and governance of Portfolio risks, dependencies, and issues.
* Assists in enabling and championing best practice for investment appraisals.
Data Analysis and Visualisation
* Strong data visualisation skills (Excel, SQL, PowerBI) to analyse and visualise data, to inform decision-making.
* Analyses large datasets and producing visualisations, to investigate and communicate Data and Digital Portfolio health.
* Engages with the target user(s) to prototype and refine specified visualisations.
Data Governance
* Assists Data Governance forums to support Data Portfolio alignment with Data Best Practice.
* Provides administrative services to Data Governance forum(s) (prepare agendas/materials, minutes, follow-up on actions, maintain SharePoint/Confluence documentation).
* Assists Data Portfolio OKRs (development, tracking, and maintenance) to contribute to the success of the Data Portfolio.
* Maintain an updated Terms of Reference for Data Governance forum.
* Support Data Director.
About you
* Degree-level qualification, preferably in an analytical or business-oriented discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
* Strong data visualisation skills using Excel, SQL, and Power BI.
* Experience in Portfolio, Programme, or Project Administration, along with relevant qualifications.
* Proven experience in analysing, visualising, and communicating data.
* Understanding of current product methods and agile methodologies, preferably SAFe.
* Strong leadership, relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills with a track record of successful delivery.
* Experience in business administration and task/activity management.
* Familiarity with the relevant business area.
* Experience working within a heavily matrixed organisation, with a demonstrated ability to drive results.
* Experience with Confluence and Jira (desirable).
* Familiarity with the SAFe Operating Model (SAFe qualifications desirable).
What you'll get
A competitive salary circa £45,000 - £55,000 - dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
