DBTH are looking for an enthusiastic and committed senior nurse or midwife to join our Gynaecology team as Matron.
As a key member of the Senior Divisional leadership team, you will work collaboratively with the Divisional Director, Clinical Director, Business and Service managers, and the multidisciplinary teams.
The post holder will be responsible for the inpatients and outpatient areas at both Doncaster and Bassetlaw sites. You will demonstrate effective leadership for your clinical areas, manage complaints, promote and support best practice, and set professional standards.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will be proactive, have a proven track record of quality improvement, and ensure that service needs and patient experience are met to the high standards we aspire to.
It is essential that the Matron possesses high-level skills; can provide advice on professional issues, patient safety, and quality; has the relevant clinical expertise; and possesses the leadership skills that the post requires. They are expected to provide operational support to the daily pressures of the NHS, providing supervision, guidance, leadership, and management to ward managers, nursing teams, and specialist nurses, ensuring a high-quality and safe patient environment is maintained.
Main duties of the job
You will demonstrate effective leadership for your clinical areas, manage complaints, promote and support best practice, and set professional standards.
The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership and line management to the clinical teams, reporting to the Deputy Director of Midwifery and Gynae Service, accountable to the Director of Midwifery and Gynae Service. The post holder will ensure the key functions of the modern matron are undertaken for the directorate. You will demonstrate effective leadership, set, monitor, and maintain professional standards, work collaboratively, manage complaints, and lead the nursing contribution for clinical governance at a specialty/department level in line with the Nursing & Midwifery Strategy. You will be an integral member of the senior leadership team, providing nursing advice, managing specialty nursing teams, having delegated budgetary responsibility, and contributing to innovative solutions to workforce & capacity management. You will take responsibility for human and financial resources, contributing to key performance outcomes within the directorate, and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Minimum of 3 years' experience working at a senior level in a nursing role within the last 3 years
* Experience of service development, leading and managing change
* Evidence of effective budgetary control
* Up-to-date knowledge of national nursing policy and strategy
* Able to effectively lead collaborative groups through redesign processes
* Evidence of Qii projects led / facilitated
* Experience of working across organisational boundaries
* Experience of policy development and implementation
Qualifications / Training
* First level Registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council
* Degree in Nursing, Midwifery or health-related subject (equivalent experience and qualification)
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Recognised management/leadership qualification (or working towards)
* Teaching and Assessment recognised qualification
* Postgraduate degree at Master level or evidence of study at master's level
