A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x 1.0 permanent Band 4 Senior Support Workers to join our new Intensive Support Function Team for Children and Young People (CYP, ISF). The successful post holder will work with CYP and families who require intensive support to help support neurodiversity, learning disabilities, challenging behaviours, and other health needs. We are looking for post holders who are passionate about neurodiversity and learning disabilities, keen to make a difference, highly motivated, enthusiastic, and have experience of working with children and young people who are complex in presentation.
The successful candidates will be offered a breadth of opportunities to develop your skills and all additional training will be provided.
When joining the team, you will be provided with an induction into CYP services covering all areas of care as well as shadowing clinical staff during your induction period. You will have regular supervision and development opportunities to help support your skill set in the area of CYP LD and Neurodiversity.
This position requires you to work 9-5 Monday to Friday office based and some hybrid working. You will be based at our Manor Farm Site in Knowsley, where you will be able to park free of charge. Main duties of the job
1. To assist the Care coordinators in the assessment of needs including behaviour, mental health and any identified needs from neurodiversity.
2. To develop and implement Care Plans and safety plans in collaboration with the CYP and family.
3. To act as an advocate for the CYP and family.
4. To engage supportively with the CYP.
5. To provide appropriate psychoeducation and information to CYP and families and carers to promote coping skills.
6. To assist CYP in accessing appropriate social, recreational, and occupational activities which will aid recovery.
7. To be aware of any clinical risk and to liaise closely with CYPMHS/Care Coordinator and multi-agency as appropriate.
8. To use skills and techniques gained through mandatory training to deescalate situations where there is physical or verbal aggression and take appropriate action.
9. To be aware of the needs and rights of CYPs with respect to culture, race, and gender.
10. To work to meet the CYP's needs, and to take a systemic approach with the family.
11. To participate in the multidisciplinary team and attend team/clinical meetings as appropriate, e.g., CPA reviews, CAF, and Safeguarding meetings.
12. To undertake joint work with other team members and professionals as required.
13. To liaise with Health, Social Care, School, and Voluntary agencies, providing and receiving information as appropriate.
14. To provide practical and emotional support to Children and young people (CYP) and their families.

Job responsibilities

Qualifications
* Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in a subject relevant to Health, Social Care, and/or child development
* Demonstrate commitment to ongoing training and development.
* Good standard of general education including English and Maths to GCSE grade C or above or equivalent.
Knowledge/Experience
